Abstract

Trypanosoma theileri in the logarithmic, stationary and decline phases of growth in biphasic medium did not initiate gut infections when fed to the stable fly Stomoxys calcitrans . Addition of horse blood to the culture overlay was found to destroy the organisms. It is unlikely therefore, in view of the host preferences of S. calcitrans , that the fly is a vector of this trypanosome.
