Abstract
New open service architectures are now emerging. An important part of these architectures is the connection management function. It enables the establishment, control and release of semipermanent connections requested by telecommunications services such as virtual private networks. This paper presents the specification, design and implementation of this connection management function in our OAMS Open Service Architecture. The proposed architecture is deployed over a distributed processing environment.
