Abstract

A 36-year-old Indian man presented with a nodule onhis arm, which he had first noticed 2 years previously.It was asymptomatic and subtle in onset. Since then, ithad slowly progressed in size, and had begun toulcerate. The patient had no personal or family historyof similar lesions. On physical examination, an ery-thematous, concave nodule with an ulcerated centrewas seen on the patient’s left upper arm (Fig. 1). Thelesion was firm in consistency, and the base wasindurated. There were no other mucocutaneouslesions, and no lymphadenopathy or organomegalywas seen.The entire tumour was excised. The area of skinwith the ulcerated infiltrative tumour and underlyingfibrofatty tissue measured 40 · 35 · 30 mm. Thetumour itself measured 35 · 30 · 28 mm, and ex-tended 2–4 mm in height from the peripheral skinmargins. The cut surface of the tumour was greyish-white in colour.
