Abstract

SummaryThree cases are presented, each of them women who while quite young developed a disease triad of diabetes mellitus, ulcerative colitis and severe thyroid disease. The relative incidence of each disease in the community is briefly discussed. The possibility of such a combination of diseases occurring in any one patient merely by chance would be extremely small. Genetic, autoimmune and psychogenic factors are discussed as possible aetiological factors.
