Abstract

Two assemblages of alluvial and eluvial platinum-group minerals from ophiolites are recognized. One is exclusively of Os Ir Ru alloys (type H), while the other is of laurite and the alloys with less Ru contents (type S). The difference in the assemblages presumably depends on sulfur fugacity in the most primitive magma of ophiolitec mantle.
