Abstract

In this article, a decision support system for solving the vehicle routing problem is presented. This system has been developed in a way that allows it to be used as a web-based application service provider. Therefore, it is feasible for any company to access it over the internet, in order to obtain the best fleet schedules (a set of least-cost routes) concerning its daily orders or supplies. The application consists of several web pages, written in plain Application Service Providers (ASP) and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) code, containing the java applets and JavaScript functions that encapsulate the routing methods, and determine the routing plan.
