An artificial intelligence search for key residues in protein electron transfer systems

Abstract

An artificial intelligence (AI) search technique for the study of protein electron transfer reactions is discussed. This search allows the selection of a limited subset of a large protein electron transfer system, which can then be used in detailed quantum mechanical calculations. The AI search is to the cytochrome c—cytochrome c peroxidase complex and key residues for this electron transfer complex are identified.
