Abstract

A structure of gratings consisting of conducting dipoles located in a dielectric layer is considered. The dispersion of the effective permittivity of this structure is calculated on the basis of the solution of the diffraction problem. It is found that the dispersion has a relaxation character. It is shown that it is possible to change the dispersion characteristic within wide limits by varying the structure parameters. The characteristic structure dimension providing for the adequate homogenization procedure is estimated.
