Abstract

This paper suggests a numerical scaler for the moduli set {2k−1,2k+1,22k+1,22k}, k∈Z+,k>1. The scaling value used is the power-of-two modulus 22k. The suggested scaler, which operates in four parallel scaling channels, is built using carry-save and modular adders. The newly introduced structure is compared with a similar scaler for the four-moduli set {2k−1,2k+1,22k+1−1,22k}, which operates in a cascaded manner. The comparison is held using the technology-independent gate model and VLSI realization tools. The gate model showed that the proposed scaler reduces area by 18% and time by 46%. The VLSI synthesis showed also that the new design has reduced area and time by 22% and 51%, respectively.
