Abstract

AbstractA method proposed for determination of high birefringence values of circular fibers is based on an analysis of the intensity of backscattered light for two orthogonal polarization directions of the incident light. The method has been used in the determination of birefringence of nylon 6‐6 fiber from a circular photographic recording of scattered light. The values thus obtained are compared with those obtained by polarized light microscopy.
