Abstract

An approach to macrolevel trend analysis for human resources development is presented. This approach utilizes nonlinear dynamic index number models requiring the least number of parameters for a relevant interpretation of empirical results. A demo economic index of a socio-economic development is introduced. This index takes into an account the Malthusian Pressure (population pressure) measured by the cumulative population growth, the population loading measured by the fraction of population not paticipating in the social production function, and the productivity of the population participating in the social production function measured as the output per person working. In such a setting it is possible to relate population dynamics, participation, and the productivity of a particular society to its possibilities of economic and social development.
