Abstract

The short and long-term effectiveness of a staff-monitored, home-based aerobics program was assessed in a group of people with developmental disabilities and compared to fitness levels of a comparable group who did not participate in the program. The results showed significant improvements on some aspects of fitness only. Difficulties with accurate measurement in the ‘field’ and with long-term maintenance of training effects are discussed.
