Abstract
The research which I shall outline here, and which is fully described in [2], is specifically directed towards the use of inference for fact retrieval in data base systems. Its principal point of contact with natural language input is through the choice of a query language, which is a subset of that used so successfully in the LUNAR system [4]. As such, this query language is a highly appropriate target for a natural language front end to a retrieval system.
