Abstract

This article seeks to educate providers on the prevalence, pathogenesis, evaluation, management, and treatment of common causes of nonobstetric gynecologic pelvic pain. Causes of pelvic pain discussed in detail include primary dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, functional ovarian cysts, ovarian torsion, leiomyomas, and adenomyosis. After reading, providers should have a better understanding of how to approach a patient presenting with pelvic pain.
