Abstract

The responses of a thermoluminescent LiF : Mg, Cu disc to beta radiation were investigated by comparing with theoretical calculations and measurements by a parallel-plate ionization chamber. The TLD disc dosimeter significantly underestimated doses for low beta energies (below 0.3 MeV), while it nearly equaled the calculated ones for high beta energies (above 0.8 MeV). The finger doses of luminous dial workers varied from case to case, however, the doses would not exceed 1.0 Rem per 3 months in Japan.
