Abstract

This work overviews the importance of ICT in education in Latin America and the Caribbean. It describes the necessary components for successful adoption that leads to effective use of ICT in education. In particular, issues related to infrastructure, access and effective use of ICT in education are discussed. A strategy is proposed based on improving competency of education professionals with an aim to create effective ICT supported learning/teaching environments. Teacher training and the support services necessary for the effective delivery of an ICT enhanced curriculanshould rank high in any set of government priorities.
