Abstract

In this study, Turkish National Interconnected Network System (TNINS) has been considered as a case. TNINS’s HV-overhead lines have initially installed with conventional aluminium conductor steel reinforced (ACSR), and economical service life of the conductors has been completed. The approach has been applied at the stage of refurbishment of transmission lines with the condition that available steel towers should be kept up. The best comparing way to find out the equivalence of the conventional ACSR among the types of all aluminium alloy conductor (AAAC), conductors have been appreciated with a computer program based on Turkish outdoor installation regulation conditions. Results were summarised and author hopes that a similar approach can be applied for other countries at the same stage as well.
