Abstract

In this paper, the fuzzy-based power monitoring system in cloud environments is designed to automatically adjust the working time of electrical appliances. The power-monitoring platform measures the voltage and current of each electrical appliances and then transmits the data to the host server through the Ethernet network. A monitoring and control interface (MCI) is embedded in the host server to monitor both the on-off state and the power utilization of electrical appliances. All the processes of requesting information, updating data, sending the requests, etc. are done through MCI. Cloud environments provide the convenient, unified way for accessing and processing data. From mobile phones, tablets, internet-connected PCs, etc. the voltage, current, power, time schedule of electrical appliances can be accessed anywhere. An example of keeping the comfortable environment inside a room by adjusting the working time of the fan is presented. The room's temperature and humidity are the two inputs of fuzzy inference system (FIS). Experiment results indicate the feasibility of the proposed fuzzy-based power monitoring and control system.
