Abstract

The maintenance of adequate spare parts inventories to insure continuous operation of capital intensive manufacturing facilities is an important objective for a practicing manager. In this application project, classical ABC analysis was used to analyze a spare parts inventory of a small but highly automated manufacturing facility in an effort to obtain better inventory control. The results have been implemented and have resulted in operating improvements.
