Abstract

Electrical resistivity measurements performed on single and multi-domain single crystals of LiNbO 3 and polycrystalline pellets of the eutectic 3(Li 2O).Nb 2O 5:LiNbO 3 in the temperature range 30–600°C are reported. The resistivity exhibits a broad maximum for all the samples of the present investigation and this anomalous behaviour explains a semimetal-semiconductor transition in the light of a band overlap model.
