Abstract

In the computer graphics and finite element simulations, both minimum angle and maximum angle are widely used to evaluate the mesh quality. To increase the minimum angle and decrease the maximum angle, here we present an angle-based smoothing method. The method tends to relocate the free node to make the pairs of adjacent angles incident to it equal. In some examples and special cases, our method works better for the purpose of increasing the minimum angle and decreasing the maximum angle than other smoothing methods.
