Abstract

An automobile projector headlamp design with a new anamorphic elliptical reflector and aspherical lens is proposed in this paper. An adopted aspherical model with the fourth-order cross-section equation designs the thick projection lens for good focusing results. A proposed anamorphic elliptical reflector surface with axial lengths varying with the rotating angle can control the light pattern in a simpler and more efficient way. A flat screen is applied to avoid manufacturing difficulties. The whole system in the low-beam concrete design example shows a horizontally wide and vertically narrow light pattern that sufficiently meets the ECE R112 regulations.
