Abstract

An analysis is presented to investigate the flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting and Boussinesq fluid on MHD free convective heat and mass transfer on a vertical stretching surface with chemical reaction and thermal stratification effects and internal heat generation or absorption. A magnetic field is applied transversely to the direction of the flow. The governing partial differential equations have been transformed by a similarity transformation into a system of ordinary differential equations, which are solved by a new analytical method (DTM- Pade) and numerical method (by using a fourth-order Runge-Kutta scheme with the shooting method). Velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are shown graphically. It was shown that the differential transform method (DTM) solutions are only valid for small values of independent variable but the obtained results by the DTM-Pade are valid for the whole solution domain with high accuracy. Finally, the analytical solutions of the problem for different values of the dimensionless parameters are shown. The obtained results show that the flow field is influenced appreciably by the presence of thermal stratification, chemical reaction and magnetic field.
