Abstract

An analytical method of obtaining sharp Patterson functions is described. The method is based on the principle of Fourier inversion, the physical concept of positivity of the electron-density function, the abstract concept of a point atom, and the information-retrieving properties of the accumulation of minimum functions. The validity of this approach has been verified on simulated one-dimensional structures of equal atoms.
