Abstract

This section is dedicated to the review of ideas, articles, books, films and other media. It will include replies (and rejoinders) to articles, the evaluation of new ideas or proposals, and reviews of books and articles both directly and indirectly related to intellectual property law. Copyright and Mass Digitization provides a critical analysis of a significant and contemporary copyright topic. The main thesis of the book is that the features of digital technology and mass digitization challenge the classical rules and principles of copyright. Therefore, it argues, there is a need to establish an innovative regulatory framework for mass-digital activities. The approach of the book is analytical with cross-jurisdictional perspective. It mainly examines the given issues under US and EU laws, in addition to other relevant jurisdictions, and extends the examination of mass digitization beyond copyright to cover other laws such as competition law and data protection law.
