Abstract

Considering the primary influence of the so-called China’s “new four inventions” on the Chinese way of life and the strengths of probabilistic linguistic preference relations (PLPRs) in addressing the decision-making problems, we start to regard the PLPRs as the decision-making instrument to appraise the impact of “new four inventions” in the paper. Generally speaking, owing to the disparate causes of decision-making environment and the decision makers, not all the decision information presented is complete and with a unified form. In consequence, we give the introduction of incomplete probabilistic linguistic preference relations and hybrid PLPRs. Concretely, either the IPLPRs or the hybrid PLPRs are divided into two categories: the additive PLPRs and the multiplicative PLPRs. In order to acquire the ultima evaluation result, the complete processes for different types of IPLPRs are first given by the corresponding algorithms, respectively. Then for the acquired complete PLPRs, on the strength of transformation functions, we define the expected transformed additive PLPRs (ETAPs) and the expected transformed multiplicative PLPRs (ETMPs) to transform hybrid PLPRs into the unformed preference relations (UPRs). After that, an algorithm is provided to check and improve the consistency of the UPRs. Then the group preference relation is calculated based on the aggregation operator, the similar consistency improving process is applied to it, and the ranking of evaluations can be gained parenthetically. Finally, a specific numeric simulation experiment concerning the previously mentioned “new four inventions” is implemented to prove the feasibility and availability of the decision-making process.
