Abstract
The First Session of the Fifth National People's Congress was held this year in Peking, from February 26 to March 5. The congress elected and appointed people to the following positions: 1. Chairman, vice-chairmen, secretary-general and other members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress; 2. President of the Supreme People's Court and chief procurator of the Supreme People's Procuratorate; 3. Premier, vice-premiers and other component members of the State Council, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The following is an analysis of the composition of the Fifth National People's Congress and the State Council.
