Summary

INTRODUCTION

Online learning is an evolutionary learning approach that is evolving and changing due to the continuous evolution of technology. It has been reported that the completion rate of MOOCs is very low, lower than 10% This might be due to reasons related to the learners’ motivations to take and/or complete such courses, it raises questions and concerns regarding the success of the open learning approach. It has been found that the current format of MOOCs have some limitations that might affect their success and sustainability [5] These limitations are related to many different aspects, such as teaching and learning methods, learning content, assessments, identity authentication, accreditation and learners’ varying needs. This paper presents a study that was conducted to evaluate the usage of knowledge maps to organize learning materials in open learning environments. The limitations of the study are highlighted and the paper is concluded
