Abstract

Introduction: In the Welsh Centre for Cleft lip and Palate patients with velopharyngeal dysfunction diagnosed with a sub- mucous cleft palate are treated operatively with an intravelar veloplasty (Summerlad) repair. This includes both clinically diagnosed and occult cases identified radiologically. This management has been consistently employed for 10 years by the same surgeon.
