Abstract

Previous studies have shown that in FPS games, the weaker players will feel discouraged, and the stronger players may be bored by the lack of challenges. Our preliminary survey suggests that players of different levels differ vastly in their ability to aim targets and reacting capability, which are particularly prominent in beginners. However, the existing training software touches merely upon tutoring players to react and to aim, without giving beginners any knack of play. Providing appropriate support for beginners may reduce the competitive, interesting and ornamental nature of the game. Therefore, in this study, our goal is to design a piece of software that trains the judgement of game players and cultivates their operational habits quickly. As the first step of our goal, we verify the operational differences between beginners and experts of FPS games in this paper.
