Abstract

Abdullah Hussain's novel "Nadaar Log" firstly published in 1996. The novel covers events from 1897 to 1974, making it a diverse representation of the time period. The subject matter and characters reflect this diversity. The story of the "Nadaar Log" is told before and after the partition of India by Abdullah Hussain. In this seventy-seven-year period, every major event in Pakistan and India is the subject of the novel. The characters are affected by these events, and the novel explores the effects on them. All the characters seem to be oppressed by time and circumstances. Their helplessness is a prelude to contentment with fate and non-resistance to a cruel and oppressive ruler. While men face numerous challenges in their external lives, women are not safe even within the walls of their own homes. Therefore, the novel shows how various positive and negative factors affect the lives of women.
