Abstract
Economic load dispatch (ELD) problem plays an important role in power system operation and control today. It is very popular optimization problem in advanced power system. Recently different soft computing techniques are being widely used in many practical applications. Here, fifteen thermal unit system has been considered. This problem has been solved by four types of PSO based optimization problem like particle swarm optimization technique(PSO), particle swarm optimization with constriction factor approach(PSOCFA), particle swarm optimization technique with inertia weight factor approach(PSOIWA) and particle swarm optimization technique with constriction factor and inertia weight factor approach(PSOCFIWA). In this problem, prohibited zone constraint has been considered. In this paper, successful implementation and effectiveness of four types of optimization technique has been shown to solve this problem. The comparative analysis of fuel cost through four optimization techniques has been discussed.
