Abstract

In this paper an analysis of children's online activities and behaviour that expose them to cybercrimes was done. Children nowadays are constantly online and as such they are exposed to cybercrimes. This research used a systematic literature review to analyse literature on online activities and the behaviour of children that exposes them to cybercriminals. The results indicate that children mostly visit social networking sites and the greatest online risk to them is sexual exploitation. However, online threats such as cyber harassment and exposure to violent Internet content can also be faced. The findings of the reviews provide guidelines for Internet child protection policy makers as well as feed into further research on how to develop child online protection (COP) solutions which educate children on safe and secure online behaviour.
