Abstract
The stirred tank reactor is analysed for stability to finite perturbations by the direct method of Lyapunov function for a first order irreversible reaction carried out in a continuous stirred tank reactor with the resulting region of stability being a significant portion of the total area of stability. Similar procedures are used to find Lyapunov functions for a second order irreversible reaction and for a polymerization system. The regions of asymptotic stability for these two cases is considerably smaller than the total region of stability. This is the second paper of a series of two and treats general two dimensional systems, general three dimensional systems, and the stability of limit cycles.
