Abstract
The purpose of this research is to examine various social issues in the novel Birds of Prey by Amado V. Hernandez through content analysis. It also aims to produce an analysis from social issues to the elements of characters, venue and rivalry. The use of Sociological and Biographical perspectives has played a major part in highlighting the data in the study. In order to carry out this study, the researcher has tried to address various social issues in the novel. Based on the data gathered and the results, the study showed that social issues represent ten components. Characters, venue and rivalry have played an important role in raising various social issues. Finally, the life of Amado V. Hernandez is intertwined with the life of Mando Plaridel who is the main character in the novel.
