Abstract
An algorithm for total heat transfer in a furnace chamber was analysed for various operating conditions. The emphasis is on radiative heat transfer by carbon dioxide and water vapour, and methods of calculating their overlap. The algorithm was used for real-time monitoring of the reheating of slabs in a pusher furnace. The measured and calculated heating-up curves for a test slab are shown in diagrams.
