Abstract

A 4×4 complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) array based on metasurface for ambient electromagnetic energy harvesting is designed. We present a feed network to transfer the maximum energy collected by all the array units to a load. Simulations show that the CSRR array can be highly efficient in delivering the maximum received power to one load using the feed network, 99.4% efficiency is achieved at 5.16 GHz. In addition, a rectifier circuit is designed to convert RF energy collected by the array into available DC energy 35.1% conversion efficiency is achieved at −10 dB input power.
