Abstract

The paper describes new object-oriented formulation of a general FE algorithm that encompasses traditional FE elements, super elements, experimental data, codes of practice and rigid-body mechanics in a single calculation environment. The new formulation is implemented in software for dynamic crash simulation of an arbitrary 3D frame structure discretized into superbeam elements and subjected to large dynamic crash loadings. The paper presents basics of the general algorithm and element formulation. The theoretical part is followed by two examples of application of the new code to real-word structures.
