Abstract

The detector modules for the original versions of the Scanditronix SP3000 positron-emission tomograph (PET) exhibit a consistent nonuniform sensitivity in count rate for paired crystals coupled to single photomultiplier tubes. The detector modules and discriminators used in the original SP3000 machines are described, and possible solutions are examined. The response is corrected by adopting a new discriminator design for the machine. >
