Abstract

The model reference adaptive system is one of the methods for speed estimation of a sensorless induction motor drive. The model reference adaptive system comprises of tee blocks—the reference model, the adjustable model, and the adaptation mechanism. A proportional-integral controller is commonly used in the adaptation mechanism. In this article, an alternative structure of the adaptation mechanism is proposed. The model reference adaptive system with the proposed adaptation mechanism is simulated and experimentally validated tough a laboratory developed prototype.
