Abstract
Due to their importance in many areas of applied mathematics, it is important to have an efficient, easily programmed method for inverting positive definite Toeplitz matrices. An algorithm for performing this inversion based on the special structure of Toeplitz matrices was originally given by W. F. Trench. In this paper we give another algorithm, utilizing the Szegö polynomials, which is efficient and simple to program.
