Abstract
I don'tquite know why Dr Evan Harris sets my teeth on edge. He is young, articulate, good-looking in a darkly Faustian way and is very clever at dramatising his special approaches. As an agnostic of Jewish origins, he not only belongs to the National Secular Society but also sports lapel tags urging ‘Buy British Pork’. As the most crusading supporter of gay rights among the Liberal Democrats he participates in every debate, often provoking Ann Widdecombe into fury.
