Abstract

A description is given of the US Federal Aviation Administration's Advanced Automation System (AAS), a phased-implementation, multilayer program aimed at modernizing and extending air-traffic-control automation. The authors present the design of an integrated tool set and associated unified database which address the needs of this project. They discuss their solutions to the prominent AAS configuration-management control issues. >
