Abstract

This paper aims at an adaptive overcurrent protection scheme for the microgrid operation. This scheme is based on Adaptive Overcurrent Protection, proposed in literature and is customized for suitable protection to microgrid for different mode of operation like grid connected mode and autonomous mode. The outstanding aspects of the proposed algorithm is to continuous monitoring of microgrid, identification of mode of operation and update the setting of relay, depending upon the variations occurred in the system. The scheme design is based on the information collected by the Microgrid Control Centre (MGCC) from the various relays. The usefulness of the anticipated adaptive protection scheme is verified by consideration of all likely situations of operations.
