Abstract

We evolve an image enhancement method for facilitating further object detection process. For this purpose an adaptive neighbourhood image processing technique with a contrast-enhancement function is used. In order to compare function performance, simulated images containing objects similar to those observed in the phantom, with various relative contrasts and various Signal to Noise Ratio levels, were generated. When using appropriate contrast enhancement functions results show that the process enhances noteworthy features both in simulated images and real phantom images with little noise enhancement.
