Abstract

An adaptive decision threshold control scheme for multigigabit terrestrial optical amplifier transmission system is applied to a 2.5 Gb/s optical receiver. Significant BER performance improvement was achieved over 600 km transmission experiment. We have studied and developed a practical technique for maximize the, signal to noise ratio (SNR) at the decision circuit by an adaptive threshold control (ATC). Transmission experiment has been carried out over 600 km fibers, and significant BER improvement has been attained.
