Abstract

AbstractNowadays, society demands agreed solutions for group decision making (GDM) problems. Consensus reaching processes (CRPs) are included in their resolution to obtain such a type of solutions. In a CRP, the decision makers discuss among themselves and bring positions closer together to increase the consensus. The emergence of uncertainty in GDM problems is quite common and decision makers’ linguistic preferences modelling is key to deal with such uncertainty, giving rise to linguistic decision making (LDM). There are multiple LDM approaches to model linguistic preferences but with several drawbacks. Recently, the Extended Comparative Linguistic Expressions with Symbolic Translation (ELICIT) representation model has been proposed. This model overcomes the limitations of existing approaches in terms of readability and accuracy. However, ELICIT information has not yet been implemented in a CRP. This paper aims to introduce a consensus model based on ELICIT information with an adaptive feedback mechanism which provides precise recommendations to the decision makers.KeywordsLinguistic decision makingConsensus reaching processExtended comparative linguistic expressions with symbolic translation
