Abstract

An active time domain detector in the uncertain ocean environment is proposed in this paper. The detector can use the a priori information of the uncertain ocean acoustic parameters to improve the detection performance. The Monte Carlo integration method is used in the detector to speed up the detection procedure. Matched-ocean detector, mean-ocean detector and energy detector were also presented as a comparison. Simulations under different scenarios with variations in ocean depth, target depth and other parameters were performed. The receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves show that the proposed detector has a significant improvement over the conventionally used mean-ocean detector.
