Abstract
This paper investigates the accurate and fast permanent magnet (PM) eddy current loss calculation method for flux switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machine. First, the 3D finite element analysis (FEA) model is used and the distributions of the magnetic vector potential (MVP) and eddy current loop are presented, based on which a modified combining 2D FEA electromagnetic computation and analytical equations is proposed to calculate PM eddy current loss. Then the axial and radial segmentation of magnets are taken into consideration. The results obtained by the proposed method is proved to be extremely close to those obtained by 3D FEA.
