Abstract
This article recounts the author's observation of Malcolm Pines's work with a demonstration group at the National Group Psychotherapy Institute Conference, the Washington School of Psychiatry, 8-10 November 1996. Dr Pines's interventions demonstrating his application of Group-analytic methods with a three-session process group are described, illustrating clarifications of group function, handling of transference, and attention given to beginning and ending phenomena.
